Setting up what is new in 1.5.0

Everything below is in the Pulse Phone 1.5.0 download and works as it is after a normal install. This page shows where each new part is set, so nothing is left half set up. The setting names are the ones in the package's config/config.lua and config/apps.lua; open the file and search for the name.

1. Update from 1.4.x

The full steps are in Updating. In short:

  1. Back up your database and move your old phone folder out of resources (two phone folders start two phones).
  2. Put the new phone folder in its place. Keep the new configuration files and transfer the settings you changed by their Config names. Copy ownermedia/ back, and media/ if you use the built-in photo store.
  3. Start the server. The phone updates its own database tables and says so in the console (for example database: brought up to date). Settings made in Pulse Admin are kept.
  4. If the console says Restart the server once to finish setup, restart once. That is the phone finishing its item setup (section 2).

Hosts that do not let a resource create or alter tables: run phone.sql from the download once, by hand.

2. Items and pictures in your inventory

The phone writes its items into your inventory's own item file on the first start, between two marker lines, keeps a copy of the old file beside it, and copies the item pictures. FiveM only lets one resource write another's files when server.cfg allows it. If the console prints this, add the line it shows and restart once:

add_filesystem_permission phone write ox_inventory

Use your inventory's resource name in place of ox_inventory (qb-inventory, qs-inventory, ps-inventory, lj-inventory). Prefer to paste the items yourself: the entries and pictures are in config/items, and Config.OwnerTools.autoInstallItems = false in config/apps.lua turns the automatic install off.

3. Pulse Admin

Type /pulseadmin in game. It covers server status, the start-up check as a checklist, features and apps, handsets and accessories, prices and items, languages, vending machines, jobs and dispatch, voice, photo storage, admin access and every setting. Granting admins and storage keys are owner-only: from the server console, pulseadmin grant <server id>.

4. Pulse Vending

A fresh install starts with two machines, at Legion Square and Pillbox Hill. Type /pulsevend as an admin to place more with the placement tool and to set each machine's name, what it sells, prices, stock, repairs, opening hours, job lock, takings account and blip. What you set there is saved in the database and wins over the file. The defaults are Config.Vending in config/apps.lua, including the six cabinet colours and seven light themes. Who may open the panel: the server console, the aces phone.admin or phone.vending (add_ace group.admin phone.vending allow) and the staff groups in adminGroups.

Players use a machine with E, ox_target or qb-target.

5. Case Studio (phone cases)

A shop assistant stands beside every machine. A player with a Pulse Case on their phone talks to her (E, or ox_target / qb-target) and the Case Studio opens for that case: stickers, patterns, finishes, lettering and ready-made looks. The design is checked and priced by the server, and players nearby see it.

  • Where she stands, her ped and her prompt: Config.Vending.caseStudio in config/apps.lua (enabled, model, offset, range, and machines to change or remove her at one machine).
  • The price of a design: cases.studio in Config.Damage (config/apps.lua).
  • caseStudio.enabled = false removes the assistant; designs are then saved at a machine's repair bay.

6. Pulse Buds Style

A player's own Pulse Buds: a colour on each part, a sleeve, a charm, studs and stickers, on the case in the hand and the buds in the ears, seen by everyone. Players design it at the Case Studio: they talk to the assistant beside a Pulse Vending machine with their Pulse Buds on them and open the Buds case tab. The design is paid for there (acc:studio, 90 by default); the Pulse Buds Style Kit is not sold in the machine. Going back to the plain Buds is free, and each character keeps one design. The settings are Config.BudsStudio in config/apps.lua (enabled, needsBuds, cooldown).

7. Police and EMS tablets

The tablets are optional: Config.Tablet.enabled = false in config/apps.lua removes the police and EMS tablets for everyone.

The tablets are pulse_tablet_police and pulse_tablet_ems in Config.Tablet.devices (config/apps.lua): the jobs that may use each one (police, sheriff, lspd, bcso, sasp and leo; ambulance, ems and doctor by default) and whether the player must be on duty. Config.Tablet.command is the command that opens it (tablet by default); a key can be bound under Key Bindings > FiveM.

Which of your scripts does each job is set in the same block, so nobody is fined twice: fines, medicalFee, jail, dispatch, records, mdt and medical (each 'auto' by default, or the script's name). A script named there that is not running is reported at start and is not replaced by another one.

The department system (sign-up, accounts, work mail, stations, command, cases, the ward) is optional: Config.Departments (enabled, pd, ems), or Pulse Admin > Features and apps.

8. Photos and the camera

Photos and videos need screenshot-basic. The download includes a copy in [phone]/screenshot-basic; the standard one works too. Keep only one copy on the server.

9. Still stuck?

Paste the start-up check from your server console in #pulse-help on the Discord. It names what is missing and the line that fixes it.
